Abstract

The omnivorous acrodont lizard Leiolepis belliana was shown experimentally to respond more strongly to chemical cues from prey and plant food than from control stimuli, as indicated by tongue-flicking and biting responses. These results extend previous findings that prey and plant chemical discrimination is widespread among omnivorous iguanians.
